Q is for Quetzalcoatl

When I started I wondered where I would get an angel for Q and X. The solution was to turn to the Aztecs! Quetzalcoatl appears to be a sinister figure, but don't be fooled! In reality Quetzalcoatl was the gentlest of the Aztec gods (one of the few that didn't require human sacrifice, for instance) even though he was often represented by a plumed serpent.

This version of Quetzalcoatl is based off a guy that I worked with when I was scanning documents for an insurance company. On the surface he appeared to be a little intimidating at first, but once I got to know him I realized that peoples personalities are much more complex than we think.

Unlike some of the other angels, Quetzalcoatl does not have wings of his own. The wings are painted on the wall that he is leaning against. An ordinary wall and an ordinary person put together become something much more complex. I am always amazed at how many people stop on this particular image.

Quetzalcoatl has two hidden Turtles.
