E is for Earth

Earth came about very quickly. I did only one thumbnail sketch beforehand and no additional sketches (some angels have gone through four or five incarnations before reaching a final product). I liked the image of the earth as a quilt that is constantly being stitched together, and as a nod to Terry Pratchett I included four elephants standing on the back of a giant Turtle.

The fact that Earth is in an urban setting often confuses people, but I like to remember that Earth isn't just plants and flowers and fuzzy animals. People also notice the electrical socket. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm sure it has some deeper significance but I'm going to leave that one up to the art critics.

Earth has five hidden Turtles.
