Cherubim is tecnically a class of angels instead of a specific individual. Recognizable by their two sets of wings they are said to represent wisdom and learning act as guardians standing at the gates of Eden.
This Cherubim was inspired by a trip to Glasgow Cathedral. My folks had come to visit me in Scotland and it was a Sunday when we went to the Cathedral and there was a service going on. My mom wanted to stay for the service so she went up to the business end of the church while my dad and I stayed behind. Across the nave from where I sat there was a funerary monument of an angel stepping out from the stone wall to support a stone crest. I began to sketch it to pass the time. The sun came through a stained glass window and fell on the sculpture. My dad looked over my shoulder at what I was drawing and then at the sculpture in the light. He said afterwards: "I probably wouldn't even have noticed that angel or the light if you hadn't been drawing it, and it's one of my best memories of the trip."
Cherubim has 2 turtles.
