In the Greek pantheon Nike, or “winged victory” is a minor goddess that often appeared with Athena. Nike is one of four winged enforcers for Zeus along with Kratos (strength), Bia (Force), and Zelus (Rivalry). I can hardly imagine what sibling squabbles must have been like.

The figure in this image came without any warning. I did one rough sketch on a piece of scratch paper, enlarged it to the size I wanted and went to finish almost immediately. After Earth (who had no sketch at all) this was the fastest image to come together. For those who have been keeping track it has been 9 months since the last angel (Janus) was completed, so in a way Nike really is a victory for me.
