F is for Fate

I knew in the back of my mind from the very beginning that I wanted to do a version of Fate but the exact image eluded me. I had one idea to do three witchy characters like the Nairns from Greek mythology but another part of me wanted to do a Lady Luck instead. Both these ideas made it into the border.

The image you see here came while I was dropping off samples at work. One of the agencies I call on is in the Merchandise mart near a bank of escalators that I always ride down to the main floor. I was riding the escalator (the normal way, not sitting on the banister) and had an image of Fate that stuck.

I can’t make any claim on whether I believe in Fate or free will because the more closely I look at one the more closely it resembles the other. Really I get the feeling that Fate is a matter of will- that if you want something to happen it probably will because you work towards it. But on the other hand there is still an element of the serendipitous that even the most focused person can’t predict.

Fate has 3 Hidden Turtles.
